Terms of service

The agreement between you and us when you use Quarkdown Studio. Last updated October 14, 2026.

The agreement

Quarkdown Studio, at studio.quarkdown.com, is provided byGiorgio Garofalo ("we", "us"). "You" means both the person using Quarkdown Studio and every account they use it with, each identified by its email address. By creating an account or using Quarkdown Studio, you agree to these terms and to ourprivacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

The open-source Quarkdown compiler and its tools are licensed separately under theGNU General Public License v3. These terms cover only the hosted Quarkdown Studio service.

Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, or under the age of digital consent in your country, you need permission from a parent or guardian, and a paid plan must be purchased by an adult.

If you use Quarkdown Studio on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these terms for it.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details secure and your email address current: we use it for account and billing messages. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including actions taken by AI agents or other apps you connect to it. Tell us at info@quarkdown.com if you suspect someone else has access to it.

Your content

You own the projects, files and exports you create in Quarkdown Studio. You give us permission to store, process, compile and display them only as needed to run the service for you, for example to render previews, produce exports, and sync your work between devices. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

You are responsible for having the rights to everything you upload, such as images, fonts and included packages. We do our best to keep your data safe, but we recommend keeping your own copy of important work, which you can download at any time as a source archive.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Quarkdown Studio to:

Documents can run code when they compile. Compilation is time-limited and isolated, and runs that misuse it may be stopped.

Plans and payments

Quarkdown Studio has a free plan and paid plans, described on the pricing page. Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through Stripe, and renew automatically until you cancel. Prices may include or add taxes depending on where you live.

We may change prices or plan contents. A price change applies from your next billing period after we tell you, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

Each plan has limits, such as storage, active projects and exports. If you move to a plan with lower limits, your oldest projects beyond its allowance are frozen until you upgrade or delete others, and once your storage is full, your files become read-only. Nothing is deleted because of a downgrade.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time from Settings → Team in Quarkdown Studio. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, and then returns to the free plan.

If you are subscribing to a paid plan for the first time, you can get a full refund of your first payment, no questions asked, by emailing info@quarkdown.com within 7 days of it. A refund cancels the subscription immediately, and your account returns to the free plan with its limits. This money-back guarantee applies only if that subscription was bought without any discount or promo code, including the education discount. It does not cover renewals or later subscriptions, and it applies once per person and once per email address, so a person who has received it before cannot claim it again under a different address.

Nothing here limits any refund rights you have under the law.

Changes to the service

Quarkdown Studio is under active development. We may add, change or remove features, and we do not guarantee that the service will always be available or free of errors. If we discontinue Quarkdown Studio, we will give you reasonable notice to download your content and refund the unused part of any prepaid plan.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using Quarkdown Studio at any time. To delete your account and its content, email us at info@quarkdown.com.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Unless the breach makes it inappropriate, we will tell you first and give you a chance to download your content.

Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties about it beyond those in these terms, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or data.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Quarkdown Studio evolves. The date at the top shows when they last changed. For significant changes, we will let you know by email or in Quarkdown Studio before they take effect, and continuing to use the service afterwards means you accept them.
